BODY//ATLAS
A research prototype for exploring medical interventions through human anatomy, original FDA records, and linked studies.
PROTOTYPE · Independent designer and developer

Problem
Understanding an intervention requires connecting anatomy, regulatory documents, clinical investigations, and literature across separate systems.
My contribution
- Built a rotatable anatomical interface with intervention selection, source inspection, historical events, comparisons, and cited Markdown briefs.
- Acquired bounded public FDA, ClinicalTrials.gov, PubMed, and NIH RePORTER records while preserving identifiers, retrieval dates, and source hashes.
- Separated physical placement, tissue interface, measurement, and intended target in the curated neurotechnology examples.
- Kept automatically indexed anatomical mentions Provisional, with exact source excerpts and an explicit review queue. Record dots indicate regional membership rather than implant coordinates.
Results
- The October 19, 2026 snapshot contains 2,490 authentic source records, 650 source-indexed FDA applications across 39 regions, and ten curated neurotechnology entries.
- Recorded local verification on October 19 passed 29 domain/data checks, 24 ingestion checks, 16 desktop/mobile-emulated browser checks, TypeScript, and the production build. These checks do not measure independent scientific accuracy.
Limitations
- Public research preview at /atlas. The interactive application serves a bounded cached snapshot, not a live data service or a clinically validated reference.
- The 721 automatically indexed anatomical relationships are Provisional source-text contexts, not verified device placements. No independently adjudicated anatomical precision estimate is available.
- An FDA application is not necessarily a distinct device family. Historical clearance, approval, and De Novo decisions do not establish current labeling, clinical effectiveness, or FDA endorsement of this project.
- Coverage is incomplete, including subsequent supplements and safety notices. The male anatomical reference omits some structures; female-only contexts remain text-only. This is not a clinical decision tool.
